Hi! I hope this letter finds you well and that you are looking forward to 2013. Each new year holds a promise of new things that God plans to do in our individual lives and around the world, and I’m excited to see them unfold.
I would like to tell you about an opportunity for me coming this winter. From January 28th to February 4th I have the privilege of going to Cambodia with a team from New Philadelphia Church. We will partner with an amazing local pastor for a week of ministering to the people there.
Cambodia has a long history of spiritual darkness. Buddhism has been the official state religion or over twelve centuries, and ethnic Cambodians see adherence to Buddhist principles as an integral part of their cultural identity. More recently the country is known for its Khmer Rouge regime that committed genocide against millions of Cambodians during a three-decade civil war. As a result, the already spiritually dry nation is now economically impoverished as well.
Fortunately, Cambodia’s history is not finished being written. The country’s annual economic growth is surprisingly among the highest in the world, and major energy companies are exploring potentially valuable oil reserves off the nation’s coast. But none of this is important if Cambodia does not experience spiritual growth along with the material. In order to heal, the people need Jesus, and our team is looking to proclaim the Truth during this time.
I would like to invite you to partner with my team and me. For this I am looking for support in two ways. The first is prayer. Prayer is powerful and incredibly necessary, especially on trips like these.
The second kind of support is in finances. After providing myself what I can, I still need to raise about 650,000 won in order to go. If you’d like to give, you are already in the right place^^
