Send Me To Borneo!

"Blessed be the God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ "

Ephesians 1:3-4

Hello hello! So, I have been attending an amazing church here in South Korea and my journey has been incredible since I first arrived here in kimchi land two years ago! This year I have decided to serve on the missions’ field this upcoming winter and this will be my first missions ever. I am thrilled to be able to have the chance to be able to spread love to countries overseas. And so from the 26th of January to the 2nd of February I will be serving on a mission’s trip to Borneo, Malaysia with my church! I will be travelling and serving with other members from my church that also have a passion for reaching out and loving upon people in need. We will be partnering up with local churches in Borneo, creating relationships and spreading love as ways to connect with the locals.

When you google Borneo, the first few pictures that pops up are luxurious honeymoon areas set on clear, blue beaches. However, even though Borneo is the third largest island in the world, in contrast to the tourist areas, north of the island are where many people live below the poverty line with a 70% poverty rate. At one point, the areas of Borneo were considered the poorest places in Malaysia. Reading about the extreme poverty rates has really touched my heart and made me realized how much of an impact we could make. Not only through loving upon the people and helping them with what we can, but showing them the unending love of Jesus and his healing powers. Together with my team, we will be heading out to longhouses, or the homes of those who attend the churches we will visit, and will be praying for them and simply spending time with them making relationships while spreading joy! Also, along with longhouse trips, we will be doing revival services at local churches spreading Jesus’ joy and love to the Malay people.

I hope the brief explanation above will share in my passion for the purpose of our team and serving and being sent out to the nations. First, I would like to ask for your prayers, if you go to facebook.com/newphilly, there will be daily updates from the field and our teams’ progress so you can pray specifically. Secondly, I will be raising 1,500,000 krw ($1,500 USD) to cover some of the trip expenses in which I am contributing 450,000 krw ($450 USD) from my own wallet. If you would like to contribute to my trip, click on the blue plus button and donate away!

Thank you for reading over this letter and I really appreciate your time and prayers.
