Not many people know this about me, but if you were to ask me what country my heart burns for the most, my answer would surely be the Philippines! I’ve been sent to different areas in the Philippines 4 times over the past 7 years, and each time I fell in love with the country deeper and deeper. I am fully convinced that God has a unique plan to use the Filipinos to penetrate all cultures across the globe to carry the gospel, even the “impenetrable” nations in the Middle East. Their positivity, hospitality, and energy is simply a God-given gift!
With that said, I am thrilled that God is sending me there again to equip the saints for the work of ministry! Specifically, General Santos is the dearest place to my heart.
Let me explain the history how it all began. In Jan 2009, I led a team of nine to the Philippines, and the last leg of the trip was to GenSan. I met Pastors Ching Tao, Danilo, and Alfonso and their families. I will never forget the authority they carried in ministry, sweet fellowship they had in Christ, and Father’s love that they manifested to us. We experienced powerful outbreaks of the Holy Spirit as we ministered there. In Feb 2011, I had the honor to lead another team of twelve to GenSan. Our partnership was built up to a whole new level, and God marked our time there with signs and wonders, especially among the youth. I could not believe the type of revival that was taking place at Youth gatherings, as well as at Faith Bible College.
Now, it almost sounds like they won’t need us, doesn’t it? Please read on. After deciding to send a team, we heard the news that P. Ching Tao’s (our main contact) father was very ill and his right hand man, P. Alfonso was diagnosed with blood cancer. Regardless of few weeks of prayer and contending for their healing, we had to mourn the loss the two mighty men of God. In the midst of my sorrowful prayers, God was stirring up new hope and zeal in my heart. God is sending me back to GenSan at such a time as this. In prayer, the Lord gave me Isaiah 61:1-7, and I’d like to share v. 3 and 7.
3 and provide for those who grieve in
Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of
beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit
of despair (...)
7 Instead of your shame you will receive a
double portion,
and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your
inheritance.
And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and
everlasting joy will be yours.
My utmost desire for this trip is perfectly described in these verses; to see these words getting fulfilled in GenSan, especially in P. Ching Tao’s ministry. And I'm sure God will. Would you like to send me out with your financial giving and prayers? I need to raise 1,000,000 won by July 19. Please visit http://support.newphilly.cc and you may make your pledge under General Santos (July 2013). I send my love from the bottom of my heart! <3
