“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are
not worth comparing with
the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation
waits with eager longing for
the revealing of the sons of God.” -- Romans 8:18-19
I can’t believe that 2013 is nearly halfway over! Without a
doubt, this year has been so filled and so precious to me. This
may sound strange, because it’s been a challenging year for me,
but truly, Romans 8:18-19 is being fulfilled in my life! God
has revealed my identity in Him to such a degree that the
difficulties I faced before really can’t compare. Now I know,
this summer, glory is going to be revealed on the missions
field!
From July 23-29, our team of ten missionaries
is going to be travelling to the city of Jakarta,
Indonesia to bless and support the native missionaries
and ministers, along with their ministries. This will actually
be my second missions trip to the capital city of Jakarta. I
was last there during the summer of 2010, which was also my
first missions trip with New Philly! Now, three years later, I
am returning as a completely different person, and I’m
incredibly excited to see the new ways that God wants to use me
in the nation of Indonesia!
Our ministry time in Jakarta is going to focus primarily on
strengthening and encouraging the native seminary students at
IKAT Bible College’s Orientation Retreat. Aas we build up these
young men and women, we are empowering them to claim the rest
of the nation for Christ. These students are going to reach the
many Muslims in Indonesia! We also look forward to ministering
alongside the students throughout the city on this trip.
Personally, I can’t wait to reconnect with the native pastors I
met three years ago, and to see the fruit of the seeds we
planted back then!
I don’t want to, and in fact cannot, go on this trip without
your support! This is not simply a chance for me to travel
around Southeast Asia; I am taking this trip very seriously. I
know that our God has work for us to do in Jakarta, and I am
answering his call. I write this letter because I would like
for you to be personally involved in this trip. A great way to
do so is by supporting me with your prayers
and with your finances.
The total cost of this missions trip is 1,200,000 KRW. I have
already sown in my personal contribution and so my personal
fundraising goal is 900,000 KRW. I will humbly
receive any amount that you feel led to support me with
financially. Every little bit counts! Please use this website
if you would like to partner with me in this way!
Thank you so much for reading my letter, and I know that you’re
going to be blown away by the testimonies from this trip! I
will be sure to keep you updated! Until then, be expectant!
By the strength of Christ,
John Matthew Ko
