Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
~Isaiah 6:8
Dear friend,
Greetings and a happy new year! Hope this letter finds you and your family well in health and joy.
It’s been a little over 3 years since I moved back to Korea and it has been quite a journey, especially in my walk with God. His true and unconditional love has broken off many lies and chains that have been holding me down for most of my life, delivering me from darkness and healing me from past hurts and wounds. Such freedom came with an establishment of my true identity and an abundance of knowledge, joy, peace, love, and happiness that is clearly not just for me, but for everyone. I am excited to share with you that for the FIRST time God has finally opened the door for me to share this overflow of His goodness to an overseas missions field.
From February 1st to the 4th, I will be serving in a team of 5 in the Philippines with my church “New Philadelphia Church” (http://newphilly.cc) from Seoul. New Philly sends out multiple missions teams to the nations all throughout Asia and the Pacific each year in the winter and summer, partnering with indigenous pastors through NPWM (Native Partners for World Mission), which is an organization founded by our mother church Jeil Sungdo Church (제일성도교회).
Our team will be ministering with Pastor Bob in Pampanga, a province located in the Central Luzon region. My heart is already stirring up for this trip because Pastor Bob’s church is located in Angeles City, which is similar to Itaewon, Seoul, where most of the economy (including many bars and brothels) is centered around the soldiers and the expat community in the area. I was drawn to attend New Philly Itaewon campus because of its mission statement - to reach out and pray for the broken - as it was strategically located between the red light districts surrounded by bars and clubs. Also, I am excited beyond words, as it will be my first missions trip ever! After several years of getting to know the Lord and hearing numerous missions trip testimonies from others, I have been eager for a chance to be a part of bringing revival to the nations.
But I cannot simply take part in this opportunity alone. It has been proven that when missionaries are “sent” by their supporters, there is supernatural grace and covering that is essential to the calling of each trip. As such, I would like to ask you to partner with me on my very first missions trip!
One way you can send me is through your prayer support. Your prayers will be much needed before, during, and after this trip. Not only will I need prayers of covering and protection as I am ministering in the field, but I also want you to join me in praying for the Philippines. I will be sending out more specific prayer requests so if you are willing to support me in this way, please let me know in person or through email (ddaisykim@gmail.com).
Along with your prayer support, financial support is also needed for this trip to be possible. I have already made a personal contribution towards the trip and my goal is to raise the remaining 350,000 KRW, approximately 322 USD (of the total 700,000 KRW) by January 31, 2013. If you feel led to financially support me, please use this support website to sow into the ministry.
We will also have daily updates from the field on our facebook page (facebook.com/newphilly) so please stay tuned! Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I hope God continues to pour out His blessings abundantly onto every aspect of your life. Happy 2013!
Blessings,
Daisy Kim
