Love That Casts Out Fear

“There is not fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear
has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
We love because he first loved us.
                                                 -- 1 John 4:18-19 (ESV)

Greetings!

It’s been a while since my last missions trip, and I wasn’t even sure if I’d be available to go out this year. However, as I renewed my contract for one more year at work, God opened up a door of favor! I am excited to announce that I’m going on missions this winter!

From Jan 30 – Feb 6 I and our team of nine missionaries will be traveling to Jessore, Bangladesh! We will be preaching the Gospel to unreached villages in western Bangladesh, a region that is predominantly Muslim and Hindu. We are going out knowing that we walk with the Truth and the Life, and we expect to come back with many powerful testimonies! However, more than anything, we will be going out to bring people into an encounter with the deep, unending love of God.

This will be my sixth missions trip with New Philadelphia Church. I am zealous to go each time because, without fail, God moves powerfully on our missions trips. It is such a blessing to be part of a church that not only sends us out financially, but also sends us out prepared mentally and spiritually to do ministry! Throughout the next few months, we will be meeting regularly, training, fasting, and praying into our trip.

I have chosen 1 John 4:18-19 as my theme verse for this trip. In the past few months, God has been challenging me to love Him first. I told myself that this season I wanted to look back and be able to say that I gave God everything, with no regrets. I believe that as I put Him first, I will get a greater revelation of His love for me, and that is the heart from which I want to serve. To serve out without fear, and completely out of love!

This is where you come in! The total cost of my trip is 1,500,000KRW (about $1,500 USD). I have personally sown in 300,000KRW to contribute to my trip’s cost. However, I still have 1,200,000KRW (about $1,200 US) left to raise before my trip will be fully funded! The majority of this cost goes towards my airfare, but will also cover our various expenses in Bangladesh. The amount you see on the left is the TOTAL amount I've raised, including my personal deposit.

I can’t go on this trip without you! If you would like to support me in this way, please make a pledge on our support website at here at support.newphilly.cc . After you submit your donation via EFT, please also email  missions@newphilly.cc  with the following information: your name, my name (Matthew Ko), the date your transaction sent, and the amount sent. Doing all of this will help our missions staff greatly!

Whether you are able to support me financially or not, I hope that you will support me in prayer! I will be sending out regular e-mail updates as our trip date draws near, and I desire your powerful prayers for myself and my team! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter, and I hope that you will be as expectant as I am!

By the strength of Christ,

John Matthew Ko
