Hello :) I hope this letter finds you well! I’m writing this to share with you about a missions trip that I will be serving in this winter.
From December 27th to January 3rd, 2015 I will be in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, serving on a missions trip with my church “New Philadelphia.” My team consists of 13 servant-hearted people going to this nation to proclaim and display the love of Jesus Christ. We will be participating in orphanage ministry through New Hope for Orphans, where we will teach classes, hold prayer meetings and revival services. We will also be participating in slum outreach and ministering at NPWM (Native Partners for World Mission) churches in the greater Phnom Penh area.
I’m so excited to go! If you are aware of the history of Cambodia, you know that in the 1970’s, the Khmer Rouge slaughtered millions of Cambodians in the name of communism. These places of torture, starvation, and execution were called the “Killing fields.” The Khmer eliminated anyone who was “tainted” with capitalism or involved in free-market activities. The Khmer Rouge’s reign still has lingering effects on Cambodia and its people demographically, economically, and culturally. It is our prayer that the gospel will heal the people and the land!
