Missionaries spend an extraordinary amount of time and energy trying to raise support. Five Two was started by Alex Lim and Matt Suhocki to help missionaries with fundraising. They created a platform called GrassRoot specifically designed for missions. It's called a platform because each church or ministry gets their own fundraising site. Five Two provides the technology and gets out of the way. They don’t touch the money or deal with donors, but empower each client to take full control over their own fundraising.
Here are some ways that Five Two has been working to serve churches and ministries:
- New Philly has raised over $400,000 in the past two years for short term trips and staff support and it’s continuing to increase.
- Living Water at Berkeley is digging wells in India
- Reah and Christian Friends of Korea have multiple projects in North Korea for
orphanages and building greenhouses.
- There was a bike-a-thon to raise awareness for human trafficking
- There are scholarships for Chinese pastors to receive bible training
- Their newest client is raising funds to launch crisis pregnancy centers in Korea
The budget for Five Two is $60,000 a year. Their clients have used GrassRoot to raise over $4 million for missions and other ministries. That’s hundreds of projects and STM from thousands of donors. Their goal for 2013 is to help clients raise $20 million for missions.
It’s true, when you give to Five Two, it’s not directly going to orphanages or building wells. But what they do is turn your donation and multiply it so others can do those things! That’s their vision.
