Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always,
to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19, 20)
Dear Supporters of Missions,
Hello! How are you doing? If you are reading this, I hope that you are doing well. I want to take this time to explain about the missions trip that I plan to participate in this summer.
I will be sent to Japan from July 27 to August 3, serving on a team that plans to minister to the Japanese people in the name of the church that I am currently attending, “New Philadelphia” (newphiladelphiachurch.com.) My current team consist of 14 dedicated people, who are ready to minister and serve the Japanese people with love in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
I am really ecstatic that I am able to go and serve. Japan is a country that is rich in culture and history. It is a beautiful country, but it can also be a depressing and lonely place for some. In Japan, many people who are fed up with life decide that it is not worth living and commit suicide. Japan is ranked number 7 in countries that have the highest suicide rates worldwide. Every since college, when I learned about Japan, this has been on my heart. I have learned much about this country, but this sad fact is something that I can never forget. I believe that the Gospel can restore and bring new life to those who have given up on themselves and life in general. Our goals for this trip is to bring hope to the Japanese people through evangelizing, building connections with local churches, and to encourage them about the things God has already started in Japan.
I am so happy and excited that I am able to share with you what I am planning to do in Japan. There are two different ways that you can support me on this missions trip. First, I would like to ask for prayer. Prayer is a powerful tool that we can use to combat the forces of darkness. You can pray for us in general, health wise and spiritual health wise as well, but when we go on the mission field, if you go to facebook.com/newphilly, there will be updates from the field with our team’s progress and pray topics for each day. Secondly, I will be raising KRW 500,000 to cover some of the trip’s expenses. If you would like to partner financially with me, please visit the website: http://support.newphilly.cc. A team profile and picture are available there.
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day and reading this letter.
Yours truly,
David John Galvan
