Dear Friends and Family,
God has been doing a mighty work in my life during my time in Korea. The Lord has truly been molding me to be more like Christ and has been taking me deeper into His heart, especially for the nations.
This past March, tragedy struck Japan as a devastating earthquake resulted in a tsunami that has killed at least 18,000 people and has put more than 500,000 people in shelters, w/o a place to call home. These people are in desperate need of counseling, love, and humanitarian aid.
Other issues in Japan that are concerning is that they have one of the highest suicide rates in the world as well as a multi-trillion dollar sex-industry that has made Japan one of the top destinations for the human trafficking of women and children in southeast Asia. It breaks my heart that innocent people are being trapped and enslaved TODAY, and their lives are being destroyed by this industry.
While only 1.5% of the population claim to be Christian, 75% claim to be non-religious. Japan has known to be the most difficult country for missions work since many prefer to be non-religious, although the people of Japan are known to welcoming and open to all people.
But, I’m excited to share with you that I will be joining a team of fourteen from my church, New Philadelphia, with Tim Huber, a missionary who has been working in Japan, to minister to the people Japan from July 11-18, through relief work, 1-1 evangelism, praying for the hurt and sick, as well as visiting and building up the churches in Japan, but mostly just spending time with them, encouraging them and simply loving on them.
Would you partner with me by committing to pray for me? I hope to have at least 10 people committed to praying for me throughout this trip, especially for protection; spiritual and physical, and that God might come and open the hearts of the people of Japan to the good news of Jesus Christ.
In order to go on this trip, I must raise 1,000,000 Korean Won (about $1,000) for my trip to cover travel costs, food/housing, and for love offerings for churches that we visit. Would you invest and partner with me financially?

사랑하는 주안의 형제, 자매, 그리고 가족된 모든 분들께
하나님께서는 제가 한국에 있는 동안에 저를 끊임없이 빚으시고, 그리스도를 닮아가는 여정을 허락하십니다. 특히나 하나님의 마음으로 이 땅과 하나님의 사람들을 바라 볼 수 있도록 특별한 시간을 열어주시는 것 같습니다.
저는 현재 출석하고 있는New Philadelphia교회공동체에서 14명의 지체들과 일본 계신 팀 휴버 선교사님과 함께 7월 11일-18일까지 일본에 있게 됩니다. 이 기간 동안 그리스도께서 저를 사랑하신 대로, 그 사랑을 경험한 대로 사람들을 섬기려고 합니다.
일본에는 지난 3월, 쓰나미로 인해 18,000명 정도가 목숨을 잃었고, 아직도500,000이상의 사람들이 임시 거처에서 생활하고 있습니다. 듣고 보던 우리 모두의 마음을 함께 아프게 했었던 시간임을 고백합니다. 복구가 계속 진행되고 있긴 하지만, 갑자기 생존에 어려움을 겪은 사람들은 인도적인 차원에서의 도움과, 상담, 그리고 관심어린 사랑이 절실합니다.
일본사람들이 예절 바르고, 선진국민으로 알려져 있지만, 전체 인구의 1.5%만이 그리스도를 알고 있으며, 75%정도는 아무런 믿음이 없다고 합니다. 선교적인 면을 예로 들어서도, 일본은 전도하기 가장 어려운 나라로 손꼽히기도 합니다.
또 다른 측면에서 일본이라는 나라는 세계에서 가장 높은 자살율을 갖고 있으며, 소녀들을 위시한 성매매 사업이 수조에 달하는 아픔을 갖고 있기도 합니다. 무엇이 우선되어야 하는지도 모르는, 개념없는 사람들로 인하여 순진하고 순수한 영혼들이 지금도 농락당하고 있습니다. 제 마음도 어두운 가운데에 일어나는 일들로 인해 무너지고, 아픔을 함께 합니다.
선교여행에서는 무엇보다 중보기도가 필요합니다. 오직 기도로만, 하나님의 마음에 잇댈 수 있고, 그 힘을 통해 행동 하나 하나, 단어 하나 하나 진솔하고, 겸손하고 지혜롭게 할 수 있기 때문입니다. 기도하는 마음이 합할 때에 복음을 듣는 사람들의 마음도 열어주시리라 믿습니다.
이번 선교여행에서는 한 사람당 약 100만원을(1000불) 모아야 합니다. 이는 여행경비와 숙식과 숙박을 포함하고, 방문하게 될 일본 교회에 헌금으로 사용될 것입니다.
편지를 드릴 때마다 염려하여 주시고, 기도해 주시고, 마음으로 응원해 주셔서 감사드립니다. 함께 함으로써 저와 함께 주님께서 하시는 일의 빛을 보실 수 있게 된 것을 영광으로 생각합니다.
