Dear Family,
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter! As you might already know, I am now a rising junior at Wellesley College (how time flies!). Even with a lot of uncertainty and confusion about the outlook of my summer this year, God has led me to spend most of my summer in Japan.
I will be spending 6 weeks of my summer in Nagoya, Japan (June 5-July 19), further developing my Japanese in an intensive language program at Nanzan University (I believe this was also a divine appointment from God to enhance my Japanese to be better equipped for evangelism!). Then, from July 27 to August 3, I will be in Tokyo, Japan serving on a missions trip with my church “New Philadelphia” (newphiladelphiachurch.com). My team consists of 13 servant-hearted people who are being sent out to this nation to display the love of Jesus Christ. The focus of this trip will be evangelism and outreach in the Tokyo area, in addition to building deeper relationships with the local ministries that New Philadelphia has visited before on previous missions trips.
To give you a little background of Japan, it is one of the world’s most powerful economies with nearly 130 million people, but it is also one of the largest unreached people group in the world according to the Joshua Project. However, I firmly believe that God is breathing life into this nation and bringing forth a new season of fruitfulness. With that, I am called to live out Isaiah 61:1. It is our prayer to experience Acts 4:30, “enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” We expect many to encounter the resurrecting love and power of Christ as we evangelize in the streets of Tokyo.
